Botalista.software

A platform shaped by gardens.

Modular software to organise botanical collections, and an association to shape its future.

Knowledge begins in the garden

Botanical gardens conserve plants and their genetic resources, conduct research and share knowledge. These missions depend on collections, observations and data that need to remain connected.

Initiated by the Jardin Botanique de Genève, in collaboration with the botanical gardens of Bordeaux, Paris and the University of Bern, Botalista addresses this need with a botanical collections management platform: Botalista.software.

Modular tools, a shared perspective

From acquiring plant material to following a specimen in cultivation, modules structure the information associated with each work process. Living collections, seeds and scientific collections are presented in the module catalogue.

Nomenclature, people, bibliographic references, images and documents provide information shared across collections. The architecture connects this information to support the work of garden teams.

  • A deployment suited to your needs: modules are selected according to the institution’s activities.
  • A multilingual web application: the software is accessed through a browser, without installation on workstations.
  • Collective governance: member gardens help guide the project through the association and its technical committee.
  • Support services: data assessment, migration, commissioning, training and support are described in the service catalogue.

Connecting knowledge

The project envisages information sharing through the Botalista DataShare Center and the use of botanical nomenclature reference sources. These directions complement daily collection management; availability should be discussed with the association.

Choose your edition

The Enterprise Edition provides a hosted service for association members. The Community Edition is intended for installation on an institution’s own infrastructure; its open source publication remains to be confirmed.

Compare editions or discuss your project.
